It has been 34 years since my first visit to Fairhaven as a teenager. I still remember the Holy Spirit putting in my heart that He wanted me to attend Fairhaven for my college education. I attended from 1986-1990 and will be eternally grateful for all that I learned both in college and at the local church. My wife (Pam Thompson) and I have been serving the Lord in fulltime ministry for 25 years now. We worked with Pastor Larry Williams (Fairhaven graduate) in Seneca, Pennsylvania, for 3 years and have been at our home church, Cleveland Baptist, for the last 22 years.

Most of our years in ministry have been with children both in the local church and the Christian school. The rewards of working with children are very fruitful as you come alongside parents and see the potential of youth. The Lord has allowed Pam and me to develop a midweek children’s program called Glory Stars, and we have been running it for 21 years. This program reviews what the children are taught in Sunday school and has a strong missionary emphasis to help children see the need for missions. We also put together a training program for teens called TTCW (Training Teens for Christian Work). This program teaches the “Why Not’s,” “Why So’s,” and “How To’s” of Christian living.

It has been a blessing to serve in the ministry where I came to know Christ as my Savior. Presently, Pam serves as an English teacher in the high school and a secretary in the school office in addition to the work we do with the children at CBC. I am currently the principal at Heritage Christian and am enjoying each day. I also oversee Heritage Baptist Institute, a ministry of Cleveland Baptist, and allows for college age or older married students to attend classes in the evening to gain more Bible knowledge or prepare for the Lord’s work.

The Lord gave Pam and me four children. Our oldest, Alyssa, is 26 and married to
Drew Jonke who is a graduate of our institute. They are serving the Lord in Vancouver,
Washington, working with a church plant. Caitlyn, our second daughter, is 23 and serves
as a computer teacher and secretary at Heritage Christian. Mark, our third child, is 20,
and currently in his second year at Pensacola Christian College training to be a youth
evangelist. Our youngest child, Joseph, is a senior this year at Heritage Christian.

It is encouraging to hear all that the Lord is doing at Fairhaven and
in the lives of those who have graduated from Fairhaven Baptist College.
