I am so thankful that God has allowed me to minister here at Victory Baptist Church in Osawatomie, KS. Just two days after I graduated college in May of 2017, I started what was intended to be a three-month internship. However, God opened the door for me to become the Assistant Pastor here in January of 2018.
There have been many new and exciting learning opportunities for me since I first started in full time ministry. I have the opportunity and privilege to preach every Sunday night, lead music Sunday mornings, teach the teens, attend to maintenance issues, schedule activities and events, make visits, and so much more.
Covid (there’s that fun word that we all want to wash out of our vocabulary), as I’m sure it was for all of us, was a learning curve. We broadcasted our services online for just over a month before we started meeting in person again. We praise the Lord that it did not affect our ministry negatively. In fact, we had several visitors coming in person after we re-opened. Recently, a young family became members, our Pastor and his wife are discipling a lady who has been coming with her children, and we have seen fruit from our outreach ministries. It is exciting to see growth in a time when the devil wants so badly to discourage the believers.
As a result of Covid, our normal VBS plans had to be rearranged this year and instead we planned on doing a “Summer Bible Day”. Essentially it was a one-day VBS in a local park where our own children as well as those from the community were encouraged to join us for a day of games, an object lesson, a short gospel message, and a cookout to follow. God really blessed us and we had fifteen kids at the park who seemed to greatly enjoy it! Please pray with us that God will continue to help us see growth in our youth department and guide us as we plan to implement new outreach opportunities into our community.
I would also like to mention and ask prayer for myself as I am currently pursuing a CDL license. My aim is to drive for the schools in town which will work well around my church schedule. This could potentially open up more doors to reach the youth in the area, though I know there will be limitations. I now have my commercial learner’s permit and am in training to receive my license.
Thank you for your prayers. It is a blessing to know as an alumnus of Fairhaven Baptist College that there are churches and families who pray and care for you. I am praying that God will continue to bless y’all as you serve Him in your ministries.
God bless,
Dustin Brinkerhoff
