Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is very exciting to be in the will of God. Things are not always easy, but the LORD helps us to keep going. We have to lean on Him for everything. He knows us best and He knows what we can handle.
Many of you know that my mom went to heaven. I only spent a month with her after college. This was not very easy, but the LORD gave me the strength I needed to go through those hard days. My family is doing fine. God is taking care of us.
Right after college, the Lord provided a job for me here in Zambia. What a privilege it is to serve in the church I grew up in! I helped in Mrs. Rich’s class and Miss. Gina’s class. I enjoyed helping in those classes and I learned some things from these two wonderful teachers.
In the year I graduated from college, Pastor Rich asked me to start a 3 and 4 years old Sunday school class. The first day of the class was crazy. The 3 and 4-year-olds were used to sitting in Sunday school with their siblings. The children were crying and they of course didn’t want to be in the new class. Because of how loud the class was, I wasn’t able to teach very well. I thought that I wasn’t the right person to teach that class. After class, Miss. Gina asked me how my class went. Before I explained to her, she started telling me about their first day of school. I was encouraged by that. I won’t go on writing about this class. I don’t want to bore you. To make the story short, I love my Sunday School children. It is so sweet to hear them say Bible verses and answer questions after the story.
The year 2016 was my first year of teaching. The Lord gave me 4 students. I was very thankful to start teaching with a small group of students. It was a challenge and I learned a lot while teaching those kids. I have been applying some of the things I was taught at Fairhaven Baptist College. I am using the visuals and the felt materials I made in college. This is my 3rd year teaching kindergarten. It is a joy to teach these little ones. I thank the LORD for giving me this opportunity to teach. I am very thankful for all the teachers that taught and prayed for me.
I just want to take some time to say thank you for those Church members that made me feel at home. You were my family while I was in college. We are truly one family because we have been born again. Thank you for all you did for me.
I have to end this update with the verse that helped me start and go through college. “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9)
With much love,
Brenda Champo
